Two VF handstamped markings in green ink. The Syracuse circle town marking is 34mm, and unlisted in "The American Stampless Cover Catalog - Volume 1." An excellent cover and letter in every respect. "The Amphions" was a popular male quartet during the early 1850s. In 1852, after its ground level market stalls were converted into municipal offices, Market Hall became known as “City Hall.” The upper floors consisted of additional offices, as well as a busy public hall. It is the most likely location where the Syracuse Musical Insttitute held their meetings and public entertainment like a performance by The Amphions.
