MO DPO - Sereno - 1898 - Excellent Topeka machine rec'd cancel on back

The community was originally called Serena, meaning "a clean, respectable place". When residents applied to establish a post office, they discovered another town in Missouri was already named Serena. To avoid confusion in mail delivery, the name was changed to Sereno.

The post office officially operated from 1888 to 1905.
