MO DPO - Scholten MO - 1916
The post office for the community of Scholten (often searched as Sholten), Missouri, operated during the late 19th and early 20th centuries as a vital link for the rural settlement in Barry County.
Establishment: The Scholten post office was officially established in 1886.
The post office and the surrounding community were named after the Scholten family, who were prominent early residents of the area. It served an unincorporated community in northeast Barry County, situated near the Barry–Stone county line, roughly one mile north of Wheelerville.
The post office remained in operation for 33 years before it was discontinued in 1919. After its closure, mail services for the area were eventually absorbed by nearby larger facilities, such as those in Crane or Marionville.
