It's not often we see covers with a manuscript town marking with "P. M." for postmaster and a handstamped circular town postmark.
1847: The post office was first established under the name Bowers Mills.
1847–1892: Operated under the original plural name "Bowers Mills".
1892–1924: The name was officially changed to the singular Bower Mills.
1904: Rural Free Delivery (RFD) service was introduced to the area.
1924–1934: The name was changed back to Bowers Mill for its final decade.
1934: The post office was permanently discontinued.
