The town of Bloomington essentially ceased to exist as a major hub after the county seat was moved to Macon in 1863. Union forces burned the town during the war, and while it remained a historic site, it never recovered its population or its status as a commercial center. Manuscript received marking from the route agent on the North Missouri Railroad on left side of the envelope.
