In the 1880s, C. H. (Charles H.) Alexander was a prominent merchant and community leader in Little Rock, South Carolina (then part of Marion County, now Dillon County). He played a key role in the town’s development as a central shipping and trade point for the local cotton economy. Like many rural post offices of the era, the Little Rock post office was operated out of a general store. C. H. Alexander owned and managed a large mercantile business that served as the town's commercial heart.
