MO DPO - Gravelton - manuscript town marking and pen cancel - 1883

The Gravelton post office was established in 1868 in northeastern Wayne County, Missouri. It served as a vital communication link for the rural Ozark community along the banks of Big Creek for nearly 90 years until its closure in 1956.

Today, Gravelton is a small, quiet unincorporated rural settlement hidden within the rugged Ozark Foothills of Wayne County.
