Alley, MO (DPO) and Alley Spring, MO postmarks on the same postal card

The Alley, Missouri post office (often referred to as Alley Spring) was established in 1884 and operated for nearly 100 years until it closed in 1982. It was located at one of the most famous landmarks in the Ozarks: the massive spring and red mill on the Jacks Fork River. The office was established as Alley in 1884. This name was used for 91 years. In 1975, the postal service officially changed the name to Alley Spring to better reflect the location's identity as a state and national park landmark.
