An extraordinarily detailed description of daily life in 1838 Raleigh written by a merchant's wife who came to live in Raleigh with her husband. Forthright, a little jaded, and she never minces words. We transcribed the first page for you. Be warned - she filled every little space she could with tiny, nervous penmanship.
